HOW CAN I PREPARE MY PET FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT?

A short trip outside to toilet and burn off any excess energy can help your pet to feel more relaxed and ready for their appointment.

DO I NEED TO STAY AT HOME FOR THE DURATION OF THE APPOINTMENT?

Yes, someone will need to be present for the initial consultation and final handover.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE WATER AND ELECTRICITY FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Our grooming van is fitted with a 100L tank which Jo fills at home each morning to provide enough water for a full day of bathing and grooming. However, the van doesn’t have its’ own power source, so Jo will need to plug in a single cord to heat the water then operate the blow dryer. There is a section on your intake form to confirm that power is available during your appointment, please let us know if this isn’t possible.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Our van is a Renault Master which requires a large, level place to park close enough to your home to plug in our electrical cord. We’ll send you a reminder when we’re on our way to you in case you need to make space prior to our arrival.

CAN I WATCH THE GROOM?

There are a few important reasons why it isn’t possible for owners to be present during the appointment, but the most important is that it can excite your pet and prevent the bathing or grooming from being safely and properly completed. Only Jo and the pets are allowed inside the van for insurance purposes, but you’re welcome to take a look at our set up before the appointment and ask any questions you may have.

THE INTAKE FORM MENTIONS PHOTOS AND VIDEOS, WHAT WILL THESE BE USED FOR?

We take before & after pics of our furry clients inside the van for our social media and website to promote our services. We don’t take or use any photos that identify you or your home. If you don’t consent to your pet being photographed, we will respect your wishes and no photos will be taken.

I CALLED BUT JO DIDN’T ANSWER, WHAT DO I DO NEXT?

While grooming and driving, Jo is unable to answer the phone, so make sure you leave a message with your details and she’ll get back to you as soon as she’s available. You can also contact Jo by text or email at anytime and she’ll respond as soon as she can.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY DOG BE GROOMED?

Depending on your pets’ type of fur and activity level, between 4-8 weeks is recommended. Jo will discuss your pets’ specific needs with you at your first appointment and recommend a suitable schedule with you.

DO YOU GROOM ANXIOUS PETS

Your anxious pet is in safe hands with The Fur Seasons Groomers. We create an environment that is designed to help your dog relax, and we use tried-and-true methods that help us build trust and reduce fear in your dog while they’re being groomed. We don’t rush, we take regular breaks, we offer cuddles & pats when they seek comfort, and we never push them beyond their tolerance level.

Sometimes, when a dog is very anxious, we may decide that it isn’t in their best interests to complete the groom on that day. If this is the case, we’ll discuss with you the best options for moving forward to help your dog reduce anxiety over time while providing the desired result.

DO YOU GROOM SENIOR PETS?

Jo has had senior dogs and cats throughout her life, and understands firsthand the physical and behavioural changes that our pets can go through as they age and their needs change. We take extra special care with our senior clients, starting with understanding their specific needs & preferences. As with anxious pets, we don’t rush, we take regular breaks, provide regular gentle pats, and never push them beyond their tolerance level.

DO YOU GROOM LARGE DOGS?

We love large dogs! Jo’s family had large dogs when she was growing up, and she currently has 2 x labradors that she adores. Jo’s years’ of hands-on experience with large dogs, both behaviourally and physically (her labs are a bonded pair that have to do everything together, including their daily walks where Jo manages 35 kgs of pup on each arm!!) make her a great choice for your large or extra large pet. Plus, the van is set up so dogs of all shapes and sizes can walk in & out of the bath, then on & off the grooming table with minimal assistance.

MY PET HAS BEHAVIOURAL CONCERNS, CAN YOU STILL GROOM OR BATHE THEM?
Please make a note on your intake form that your pet has behavioural considerations and Jo will give you a call to discuss how we can best look after them while grooming. We also offer a free meet-and-greet with Jo and your pet before booking your first appointment, just send a text or email and we’ll work out a suitable time with you.

MY PET HAS SENSITIVE SKIN, CAN YOU STILL GROOM OR BATHE THEM?

Let us know when you book online or discuss with Jo at the start of your appointment if your pet has sensitive skin so she knows to use an oatmeal-based shampoo or a medicated shampoo (Malaseb) depending on which is best for your pet. If you have a shampoo that you’d prefer for Jo to use, just let her know.
I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS, HOW CAN I GET IN CONTACT WITH JO?
You can call Jo on 0404 754 334 or email her at hello@thefurseasons.com.au and she’ll be happy to answer all of your questions. Please note, Jo doesn’t answer the phone while she’s grooming or driving, so be sure to leave a message and she will get back to you.
